ABEL MACIAS

Abel Macias is a painter and muralist taking inspiration from the natural world. Focusing on a variety of kaleidoscopic landscapes, as well as folkloric imagery drawn from his Mexican heritage, Macias applies a bold, expressive palette with textural brushstrokes. Macias entertains the notion that his paintings are not merely meant to be examined from his point of view but to be experienced from a more universal lens. He actively zooms in and out of focus, capturing both the grandeur and the minutiae of his subject matter. The result is a complex overlay, where background and foreground blend seamlessly, and the space between objects dissolves.
